Rejuvenate Your Skin With Dermapen
More and more non-surgical options for skin rejuvenation are available seemingly on a daily basis. Some of these are more effective than others. One relatively new approach is micro-needling, which has proven to be quite effective in addressing fine wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and for lessening the appearance of surgical or burn scars. Sterling Aesthetics in Santa Fe, New Mexico is pleased to offer Dermapen for our patients.
What is Dermapen?
Dermapen is a skincare rejuvenation treatment that makes use of micro-needling technology. Also known as vertical needling, this is done by creating a precise pattern of “vertical stamping” into the skin through the use of 12 micro-needles. These micro-needles simultaneously create 12 microscopic wounds in the stamped site. The body responds to the perceived wounds by producing collagen and elastin, the foundations of healthy skin that both diminish as we age. This wound response creates younger-looking, healthier skin. As a sign of its promise, Dermapen was awarded the “Best Professional Skin Rejuvenation Device” at THE Aesthetic Show 2012.
How is Dermapen done?
Once Marian Urban has decided that you are a good candidate for Dermapen, your treatment will proceed. The micro-needling device’s 12 needles pierce the skin at a 90-degree angle. The depth of the penetration is precisely controlled and can be adjusted to fit different conditions. Because it is so precise, especially when compared to traditional skin needling rollers, Dermapen can be used on hard-to-reach areas on the face — the lips, nose, and the areas around the eyes. Before the micro-needling begins, a topical anesthetic is applied, so your Dermapen treatments are painless.
What can I expect after the Dermapen procedure?
Once the treatment is done, you may expect some redness and flushing in the treated sites, similar to the reaction your skin gets under the heat of the sun. The area may be more sensitive, have a warm sensation, and feel tighter than usual. These symptoms can last for six hours, but rapidly diminish. Over the next 24 hours, the skin on the treated areas heals completely.
When can I expect the results from my Dermapen treatment?
Generally, visible results from Dermapen are seen six to eight weeks after the procedure and will continue to improve over time. Although skin can manifest great results after a single session, our experts at Sterling Aesthetics usually recommend multiple sessions to achieve and maintain desired results.
